Zach has been teasing me for the longest time that he wants to get me some massive, dirty, white trash, pimped out truck...I have always refused to drive something like that, until I spotted this this baby! It is kind of end of the world amazing. They are loaded with kitchens, beds, and sports gear storage. I would totally get this for road trips around the country to camp in and to go on adventures with.

I am on the hunt for a new rocker. We bought a glider when Zuma was 1st born out of pure necessity, but I hate it. It is one of those comfy lookin gliders, but totally ugly. I actually have a really cute one in Utah, stored at my parents house, but Zach doesn't ever want to drive, so I doubt I will ever get it. So I am on the hunt again.

Blueberry Pie Recipe

INGREDIENTS

Crust:

One double recipe for all butter pie crust dough

Filling ingredients:

6 cups of fresh (or frozen) blueberries, rinsed and stems removed (if using frozen, defrost and drain first)
1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for thickening)
1/2 cup white granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 Tbsp butter (unsalted), cut into small pieces

Egg wash ingredients:

1 egg
1 tablespoon milk

METHOD

1 Prepare the crust. Roll out half of the dough to 1/8-inch-thick circle on a lightly floured work surface, about 13 inches in diameter. Fit the dough over a 9-inch pie pan, and trim the edges to a 1/2 inch over the edge all around the pan. Put into the refrigerator to chill for about 30 minutes.

2 Gently mix the blueberries, sugar, flour, cinnamon, lemon zest, and lemon juice in a large bowl. Transfer them to the chilled bottom crust of the pie pan. Dot with butter pieces. Roll out remaining dough to the same size and thickness as the first. Place on top of the berry filling. Tuck the top dough over and under the edge of the bottom dough, and crimp the edges with your fingers. Transfer the pie to the refrigerator to chill until the dough is firm, about 30 minutes. Heat oven to 425°F.

3 Whisk egg and milk together to make an egg wash.

4 Remove the unbaked pie from refrigerator. Brush the top with egg wash. Score the pie on the top with 4 cuts (so steam can escape while cooking). Place the pie on the middle rack of the oven with a parchment paper or Silpat lined baking pan positioned on the lower rack to catch any filling that may bubble over. Bake for 20 minutes at 425°. Reduce heat to 350°F and bake for 30 to 40 minutes more or until juices are bubbling and have thickened. Transfer to a wire rack to cool. Let cool completely before serving.

Makes 8 servings.

I have been on a pie craving kick, I have been craving pie for the best few months and finally decided to satisfy that craving, so I made a blueberry pie. Oh, it was heaven sent. I am a lazy piece of you know what, so I didn't make the crust, just bought those pre made frozen marie callendars crusts from the grocery store... I also like to make it with a crumble crust.

So, Zach and I are still waiting to see if we have gotten this rental home in venice... I am officially obsessed! It is all I can think about day and night. We have been living in teeny tiny apts. for so long, and I have been pretty content and have actually loved it, but now that I have a little man crawling and walking around the house(Zuma just learned to walk the other day, yipeee!) I feel the need to have more space and my own space. I love my neighbors to death, but lets be honest, there is absolutely no privacy I can't even open my windows without everyone seeing everything I am doing and hearing everything that I say. I am totally in nesting mod, I just wanna make babies and have room for them to roam and play(-;

so, anyway, if we do get this house we are looking at I wanna get a cute hammock to hang off our porch connecting it to the fig tree out front. I would love to rock zuma to sleep in this beautiful hammock out in the sun.

For our 5 year anniversay, Zach got me a new wedding band. I found this local girl here in Santa Monica on Etsy, We met at Starbucks did our deal and it should be done in a couple of weeks. I am so excited. It is nothing spectacular, but it is more "me" than my other band and I wanted to keep the same diamond and keep it looking pretty similar. My ring before was white gold and the diamond was set up on prongs and the band was a little bit wider. My ring will be similar to this picture, but the band will be much thinner and a little more hammered. Hopefully I didn't get scammed though, cause it was kinda shady meeting at a coffee shop and handing over a ring worth thousands of dollars and hoping that this girl will give me a ring with the same diamond or even making my ring at all for that matter. risky business, but Etsy is a good site and the girl seemed to be honest..so, there goes my ring off to get hacked up.

For Christmas and New years we went to Sandpoint, it was so dreamy! It was a winter wonderland. We went Ice fishing on the lake, the boys played hockey on the ice, we went sledding..well should I say everyone else went sledding, I was pretty much a lemon the whole time because I had a newborn, but any who...it was so much fun, I hope we go up there for Christmas more often. For Christmas eve we reenacted the nativity and had a little dance party, Darin and Penelope stole the night away with their fiesty dance moves..take it away Darin!

Look at that scary cone head! I am so glad it didn't stay that way, poor little guy. Zuma was born 10 days early and he popped out really fast! I had been feeling contractions the night before and the whole day, they were about 5 min apart but they didn't hurt, so I thought I had much more time.. honestly I thought he was going to be born in the next week, I was totally in denial... My mom was visiting me (crossing her fingers he would be born early) we went for a walk on the beach, walked to the bank and post office, moved a sofa, fan some more errands.. we were just busy like usual. Zach I swear has a sixth sense, because He said he got work off early because he thought the baby was gonna come ( I thought it was just his just excuse to hang out with my mom and I ). We all went to my 2nd home, Joann's the craft and sewing store because Zach wanted to get some battery operated candles for me to help "the mood" when we got to the hospital. While I was walking around, my contractions started to be more painful and about 2 min. apart, I had to sit down while Zach and my mom finished shopping. Zach then suggested to go to a movie, but I didn't feel like sitting through a movie (thank goodness I didn't too!) We then decided to go to whole foods to get some snacks for the hospital ( I still didn't think I was going to have the baby that night). I decided to stay in the car with my mom while Zach ran in and got some snacks and dinner for us... I got bored waiting so My mom and I went in and found Zach running around the store like a chicken with it's head cut off! It was so cute. I tried to pick out some things to eat, but the contractions started hurting more, so I couldn't focus and so I decided to go sit down. We made it outta there and got home to eat our dinner. It was about 9:00 pm, I didn't have an appetite, but Zach made me eat a few bites. I was sitting on my yoga ball while eating and POP! my water broke and I screamed "whoooa!!!" it felt like someone had just popped a giant water balloon inside me! it gushed all over me and so I had to go change, as soon as I stood up the real pain started.. the contractions were a million times worse. Zach helped my put on some new pants and my mom grabbed my bag and we were out the door! There was a fire truck and ambulance parked right outside of our apt... I seriously considered jumping in. There was thunder and lightning, but I had no clue until Zach later told me. I was in transition and I was just screaming. I remember thinking I wasn't gonna make it and telling Zach that I was scared and that I didn't want to have the baby yet. 20 min later we made it to the hospital and jumped out of the car, Zach left it running and told my mom to park it while we ran in.. I was delirious by then and I was just screaming while they were trying to find my a wheel chair to put me in. They had me change into a gown and pee into a cup, I remember spilling the cup and crying and saying "oh no! sorry sorry". I was then put onto a bed and there was a lot of hustle and bustel, the midwife on call told me to quiet down, because she didn't think I was dilated that far along..Oh really? she stuck her hand inside me and felt around and she said I was at a 7! they then put me onto another bed and checked again immediately and I was at an 8!.. then they said the "the baby is comin I see it's head!" Zach said that he had hair!.. I pushed and pushed, but they said that he kept moving out and then going back in again. I couldn't see or hear anything , i could sense there were a lot of people in the room and that it was hectic.. Zach kept trying to get my attention to help direct me, he later said that the Dr. and nurses would tell me things but I wouldn't respond to them, only to Zach, so they would tell Zach things to tell me. I pushed prob. for about 20 min- 1/2 hr and then little Zuma Lee was born! it was such a crazy experience.. The Dr. said that Zuma's heart rate was dropping so they had to rush him to another table to check him right away, which kinda sucked because I didn't get to see the umbilical cord or placenta which I was curious to see, but they brought him right back and set him on my chest... it was seriously unreal. Zuma was born at 10:02 pm.

Here is my design for the Shabby Apple Dresses contest. Being a competitive figure skater for 9 years, I am often inspired by dancewear. The way it fits to the body and shows the form is beautiful to me. I also love how comfortable and stretchy it is. I chose this design because I wanted to design something that was simple enough to be versatile, but fitted to make any woman feel beautiful. This dress is a beautiful silk jersey in a pretty peach colour that is flattering on all different skin tones. I thought that this dress would also be pretty in a chocolate brown and in a coal grey. Each section of the dress is color-blocked in subtle changes of the same colour. The front gathers and ties in back. There are also pockets in front. The silk-jersey is a great fabric because it never wrinkles, it stretches and it clings to the body in all the right places. A must have in your closet. Make it in black and it could be the perfect little black dress.

Last week I started an internship with a celebrity stylist...and at the same time found the Racheal Zoe project. It is really a great show for me to watch because it is so similar to what I am doing right now. There are three main characters; Racheal is the celebrity stylist, Taylor is her grumpy/moody assistant and Brad is the new guy who was hired on to be another assistant to help Taylor out, but Taylor is so mean to him all of the time and will never explain to him what she wants done...In my world There is the celebrity stylist, the assistant (who is the total opposite of Taylor, super nice and communicates well what she want from me) and me(Brad)the intern. So far I have loved working, it is just so great to be working in the industry, meeting new people and being surrounded by beautiful clothes. I love watching Racheal on the show, because she is so passionate about her work and the clothes... she looks at the pieces the way I do... like art.

Oh the trendy Harem pant... I know they may seem scary, but don't be shy. I have a pair and I love them! I spotted the harem pant about 2 years ago while backpacking through Barcelona, Spain. Everyone was wearing them. My husband and I were obsessed with the style there, all of the girls had the cool factor. About a year later the Harem pant started popping up in US magazines and now they are in most retail shops. Unfortunately I still think many Americans are afraid of them because it is such a different silhouette then what we are used to. Don't be shy my little friend, these babies are awesome.

I just took some of these images off of the stylishly cute blog, Childhood Flames.
These outfits are very easy and chic.I am really into clothing like this. The simple, muted colors are really a reflection of the times and the economy. People have been looking wanting the "basics" -items that we can easily mix and match. I think that we will start to see more color sneaking back into our wardrobes pretty soon though.

I have been sewing away this spring and I have been inspired by...surprise..SPRING! It seams like everytime oI pick out some fabric to work with it has been in these color combintions. I actually didn't mean for it be so pastel-y, but since it seemed to keep going in that direction I just figured i'd just go with it. My next projects are going to be a bit darker and more edgy. Yesturday while I was shopping at Lincoln Fabrics I ran into Lauren Hutton! She is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen, I think the older she gets, the prettier she gets. I seriously hope to age at least 1/2 as gracefully as she has. One of my very favorite quotes is one that she used in the book, Influence by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. When asked by a reporter form The New York Times, "what do you want to be when you grow up?" Lauren thought for a second; and then said, "I want to be a wise woman." I think that that quote is so great, because I think that is what I want to become.
